mint raspberry margarita

Hello friends! So V-day is here... personally I think it's one of the most overrated holidays, but hey. It's full of chocolate and cute little teddy bears and people telling each other how much they love one another, so I suppose it's better than some others. But I don't know, Arbor Day is pretty hard to beat. (kidding...) .

Either way, whether you've got big plans with #bae, a Galentines (yep, it's a Vday night without any boys...I guess technically it was yesterday), or even a simple night indulging in some chocolate covered strawberries alone while watching Netflix, I hope someone at least gives you a hug today and tells you that you're awesome. I will if no one else will, just let me know.

So I love tequila --- (if you didn't know that already) and love making fresh margaritas for whenever I feel like having an alcoholic drink. But no no no - not the kind with all the simple syrups, flavored mixers and all that nastiness. Just literally straight tequila with fresh squeezed limes, oranges, etc. I don't drink too often anymore, but when I do I like things light and refreshing! In fact, tequila is one the healthier alcohols out there because it isn't full of a lot of other harmful chemicals that you might find in other types, such as: caramel coloring, natural flavors, BPA, high-fructose corn syrup, etc. If you don't believe me, check out this link: https://www.ttb.gov/ssd/limited_ingredients.shtml .

So, here is a fresh margarita recipe great for the spring & summer months coming up, or even to enjoy tonight! Just a few simple ingredients:

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Serving Size: 2 servings

Ingredients:

  • 4.5 ounces of 100% pure silver tequila (about 3 shots)

  • 2 limes

  • 1 large orange

  • 2 tablespoons of raw organic honey

  • small handful of mint leaves

  • small handful of raspberries

Extra Equipment (helpful):

Directions:

  • In your alcohol shaker, drop in a few ice-cubes to keep it chilled, then add in the tequila, fresh lime juice and fresh orange juice

  • Shake for a few seconds then add in the raw honey, mint leaves & raspberries (mash up a few of the mint leaves & raspberries to get as much taste as you can)

  • Pour over a glass of ice, and serve with a few more fresh raspberries and mint leaves on top for decoration. If it's too sour, add a little more lime juice or honey! It's going to be tarte at first.... but it grows on you.

  • Enjoy!
